Aldi Product Review: Bremer Alfredo Chicken
For today’s Aldi product review, we tried the Bremer Alfredo Chicken skillet meal. This is a year round product that Aldi offers in it’s frozen food section. Each bag contains 3 servings of one cup each and costs $3.49. We needed two bags to feed our family of four but we did end up with some leftovers so two bags could probably easily feed 5 or 6 if you needed it too, especially if you pair it with some bread and a salad.
The Bremer Alfredo Chicken is a skillet dish that contains pasta, broccoli, carrots, peas, and seasoned white meat chicken pieces that are in an Alfredo cheese sauce. It was easy to prepare and I was able to get it from freezer to our dinner plates in about 15 minutes time. Not bad for a quick meal. It does require you to use 3 tablespoons of melted butter per bag during the cooking process so if you are planning to give it a try!
The meal itself was pretty decent, especially considering the price. I was initially worried when I first dumped the bag into the pan that it was going to be a little stingy on the chicken but when we went to eat it, there was actually a fair amount and it ended up being satisfying meal. Another concern I often have with frozen meals is how salty they will be. A quick check of the label did reveal that it have 450mg of sodium per serving but it didn’t taste overwhelming when I ate it.
We ended up pairing our Bremer Alfredo Chicken meal with their Southwest Chopped Salad. All four of us (hubby, both my teenage boys, and I) all enjoyed the meal. I don’t see us eating it on a super regular basis but I wouldn’t hesitate to grab it again for a night when we need a quick and easy meal. I felt it was definitely worth the price. I would give this Aldi item a 4/5. Don’t buy it expecting a gourmet meal but if you need a meal that you can get on the table fast and that tastes decent, then you might want to give it a try.
